Cultural Safety

This by-request training goes into the intricate dynamics of lateral violence and lateral kindness, examining its roots in trauma and its manifestations, so that we can move forward in the right direction for our common humanity.

After a journey through Canada's history of colonization and oppression, followed by teachings of Indigenous ways of being, participants will develop actionable items to ensure they can provide trauma-informed and culturally safe services to and for Indigenous people.
Join us on this transformative journey, where Indigenous wisdom meets contemporary practice. Please arrive at the workshop on time and be fully present.

Session Details

This is a facilitated, in-person workshop that includes storytelling, discussion, reflection, and coaching. It’s an interactive learning experience, not just a lecture. Depending on your group’s needs, the training can be delivered in a half-day format (4 hours), a full day, or up to 2 full days (16 hours). You’ll be guided by Indigenous educators who create a caring, open space where everyone can learn together.

Indigenous Tourism BC will cover the full costs of this training for eligible participants:

• Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit, Metis) residing in BC
• Indigenous-owned tourism businesses (51%+ Indigenous ownership), and employees of
• First Nations-owned tourism businesses (51%+ First Nations ownership), and employees of
• First Nations Communities in BC
